Monday Nov. 3 - A Day in the Life

I wake up after some nice dreaming, involving a connection with a horse and my Reiki power of healing. It suggests that there may be a horse in my future, although my sensitive back has been telling me otherwise. Juan had arranged a horseback ride for me for my birthday in early September, and my back was sensitive for a few days afterward. It was a beautiful ride on the beach and up into the hills near Garza, with spectacular views, and I did a lot of galloping on the beach with Silvietta, his sister-in-law, who came with us.

After a couple of cups of coffee and some conversation with Jason, my gardener, I felt charged up enough to get my longboard out of the bodega and down to the beach. The waves were decent, meaning not too big, and I took a few rides. I need more strength, and after a year of living here, I’m less strong than when I started. But I still feel good about starting the day in the water.

I checked in with Mark on my smoker, and while not much had been done in my absence, he had at least procured a piece of angle iron that he thought would be sufficient to weld the trailer hitch on my Pathfinder. It did occur to me Saturday night that ‘Fritz’s Barbecue Joint’ might be the right name if I have my own steady location.

Jorgelina came over later to do a little more work on my bbq sign, as I continue to struggle a little with my signage issues. Things need a little more time to come into focus.

I check in with Dominique at La Banana, and he says it’s still slow and we decide to wait another week to see if there are enough people to make it worthwhile for me to sell my barbecue at their Thursday reggae night.

Agnes also stopped by and delivered a big box that had been sent to me from Paula, Patrick’s girlfriend, in appreciation for their visit here. It has some great kitchen items and spices, all very usable.
